President Bola Tinubu has declined to sign the National Drug

President Bola Tinubu has declined to sign the National Dr*ug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bill, 2025, into law.

The President refused to sign the bill because :

The NDLEA Amendment Bill, 2025, aimed to allow Nigeria's anti-drug agency to retain part of seized dr*ug crim£ proceeds to fund operations, reducing reliance on government budgets. President Tinubu rejected it on June 26, 2025, citing conflicts with Section 58(4) of the 1999 Constitution, which mandates all proceeds go to a centralized account with oversight from the president and National Assembly. The rejection was due to concerns over transparency and potential mismanagement, as the bill bypassed established legal protocols. Supporters argue it could boost NDLEA efficiency, while critics highlight risks of corruption and constitutional violations.

Meta the company behind Facebook) tried to buy a new AI startup called Safe

Superintelligence SSI for $32 billion. This startup was created by Ilya Sutskever, a former top scientist at OpenAI. But he said no—he didn’t want to sell the company or join Meta.

So Meta changed tactics. Since they couldn’t get the company, they went after the people who invested in it: Daniel Gross and Nat Friedman, who run a venture capital firm called NFDG. Meta is now trying to buy a $1+ billion stake in that firm, which would give them access to many other promising AI startups.

Meta also spent $14.3 billion on another company called Scale AI, and hired its young CEO, Alexandr Wang, to lead their new “Superintelligence” team.

To attract top AI talent, Meta is offering huge pay packages—some over $100 million, with nine-figure signing bonuses. Even OpenAI admitted Meta is being very aggressive in hiring.

The big idea? Meta wants to control the future of AI. Instead of building everything from scratch, they’re trying to buy the best people and companies. It’s like trying to win a football game by buying the players, coaches, and even the stadium.

But here’s the twist: even after all this spending, Meta’s AI models still aren’t as good as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. So either this bold move will pay off—or they’ll waste over $50 billion trying to catch up.

Turning Trash into Treasure: The Golden Promise of E-Waste Recycling

Every year, the world generates millions of tons of electronic waste — old smartphones, broken computers, discarded TVs — much of it forgotten in drawers or dumped in landfills. But what if we told you that hidden within this digital debris lies a surprising treasure: gold?

Electronic devices contain tiny amounts of precious metals like gold, used in connectors and circuit boards for their excellent conductivity and resistance to corrosion. While each device only contains a small speck, collectively they add up — and that's where the magic of recycling comes in.

Recycling e-waste isn't just about reducing pollution; it's about recovering value. With proper processes, specialists can extract gold and other valuable materials from old electronics, reducing the need for harmful mining while creating economic opportunities. One ton of circuit boards, for instance, can yield more gold than a ton of mined ore!

By recycling e-waste, we're not just cleaning up the planet — we're uncovering a golden opportunity. Every broken gadget could be a step toward a more sustainable, resource-smart future.

So next time you upgrade your phone or toss out a tangled charger, remember: recycling isn't just the right thing to do — it might just be striking gold.
